Woolwich (HAZ) Mural

In partnership with Greenwich Council and Historic England’s Heritage Action Zone project, Paige was commissioned to deliver a fully engaged mural community programme.

With Paige’s passion to engage her local community this project was a perfect fit. Paige was born and raised in neighbouring town Thamesmead, but Woolwich was her grandparents home for their formative years. The Woolwich covered in public market and the high street was the backdrop of many family stories that Paige grew up hearing. In its hay day Woolwich and its high street was compared to the likes of Oxford Street. Nowadays its a little rough around the edges and needs a little love, something that the Governments Heritage Action Zone (HAZ) scheme aims to achieve .

In late 2022 Paige ran a series of workshops with local residents, school children, local councillors and community groups. The aim of these workshops were to create outcomes inspired by Woolwich High street that would feed into the mural making it a community artwork.

The mural is due to be installed outside of the DLR station in Woolwich imminently.
