Effra Road Brixton

Child Friendly Lambeth, Community Mural

This project was produced in collaboration with a group of young people from a local community youth club. Paige hosted a day’s worth of workshops with the intention of investigating what the children felt their rights should be. Things like the right to community events, free travel and a safe home were developed through creative activity.

The young people’s ideas were then supported by Child Friendly Lambeth whom commissioned the mural. The design of the mural was directly inspired by communications from the young people alongside the NSPCC’s Children’s right acts. Examples of these acts are the right to good and healthy food, the right to play and freedom of speech.

Paige then installed the 28 metre mural on a brick wall on Effra Road in central Brixton and an accompanying billboard was produced.

Commissioned by Child Friendly Lambeth and The Brixton Project.
